The ProRep Tortoise Life substrate will do the job perfectly. Made from a blend of professional quality loam, soft sand and limestone grit, it is the perfect combination of texture and moisture to reflect the natural surroundings of the tortoise, especially Mediterranean and Russian Tortoises. The addition of pure limestone provides additional calcium (if the substrate is eaten) to help maintain healthy bones. This substrate is also suitable for many species of lizards that originate from similar habitats.

Directions:
Spread the substrate evenly over the bottom of the enclosure to a depth of at least 2” (5cm) for young animals and 6” (15cm) or more for mature animals. Russian tortoises particularly may need a deeper substrate as they burrow extensively. Spot-clean daily to remove soiled substrate and replace completely every 2 or 3 weeks. Areas of the substrate can be sprayed to keep it slightly damp and so provide local humidity. Avoid making the substrate too wet.
